Spirit Village

Throughout the year, we experience the various ways that Jesus enters our world to make a difference. This Advent season, we experienced His presence during Spirit Village 2006. It was a day of fellowship, song and meeting the needs of the sick, the poor, the afflicted, the imprisoned and the hungry through Jesus' promise that "whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." We appreciate all who have participated thus far in this life-changing ministry.
But there's still more to do!
Christ Church supports more than 60 mission partners throughout the world with prayer and financial support. And through Spirit Village, we have the opportunity to bless these ministries by supplying food, clothing, transportation, livestock, ministry materials, medical care and more. Spirit Village is designed to teach about our missions and provide light and hope to the people they serve.
According to one of our missionaries, "There is no way that you can know the debt of gratitude that those of us, on our various fields of mission, continually feel because of your willingness to partner with us. Your efforts (through Spirit Village) go well beyond the hope of receiving material help to meet the practical needs of those whom we serve," says Rev. Steve Solomon, who operates the New Horizons Home for Boys in Brazil.
"It is a gift of encouragement to those of us who labor and sometimes forget that we are not laboring alone. It reminds us that this really is God's working ... not our own. And what we achieve, we achieve not alone, but ONLY through the commitment of dedicated hearts of those who labor behind the scenes, to say nothing about those who give, and give well."
For example, gifts from Spirit Village help provide school bags for children, printing costs for Sunday School and Vacation Bible School materials, and medical check-ups and medicine for children in the lowest caste in India. Rev. Moses Swamidas of the Bible Faith Mission says, "We praise God for the financial support which enabled us to help the poor and needy school children go to schools like the other children carrying their books in a school bag. We strongly believe that unless our people are educated, we can not help them to understand the scriptural ethical values and Christian principles of following an exemplary life of transformation. Tomorrow's church is today’s Sunday School children." The Mission designed a Sunday School and VBS curriculum for teaching biblical charactership.
As part of the holistic concept of the ministry, the Mission conducts an annual medical checkup, and this year about 350 Dalit children received checkups in August. Parents told Swamidas, "We see here the realities of Christian compassion and love through this action."
Please continue to join with us and share in this meaningful expression of our love to God and the peoples of the world.
