Greg and Faith Hurst minister at two churches, one in La Paz and the other in El Alto. The Hursts have three daughters: Kayla, Hannah, and Mariah. Their work focuses on discipling Bolivian believers so that they might spread the word of Christ to others in their community. Two groups of people in Bolivia remain unreached for the gospel: the Aymara Indians and the professional class city dweller. The Hursts work with both very different groups of people. The professionals of La Paz are very similar to the Americans in the Chicago area in their education, dress, and recreation. However, 60 percent of the population of Bolivia is indigenous, Quechua and Aymara Indians, descendants of the Incan Indians. For thousands of years, they have worshiped “Pachamama,” the goddess of the earth, and still sacrifice llamas to her as part of their religious practice.
