Franklin Graham

Like the Good Samaritan Jesus talked about in Luke 10, Samaritan’s Purse provides physical and spiritual aid to people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disaster, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love. Franklin Graham is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Samaritan’s Purse. Believers are the prime target for persecution in dozens of countries where Samaritan’s Purse ministers. Brutal governments and intolerant religions don’t just harass Christians; they forcefully seek their eviction or extermination, or deliberately exclude them from rights ordinary citizens enjoy, such as education and jobs. Samaritan’s Purse provision of critically needed assistance, all in Christ’s name, to troubled areas of the world earns them a hearing for the Gospel’s message of hope to all who believe.

PROFILE:

As we toured the infirmary (in Sudan), we learned about one little 12-year old named Grant. Last year, his father had been killed in the fighting. The day before we met Grant, his brother found a deadly 60 mm mortar shell on the ground and carried it into his family's hut, not realizing the danger he held in his hand. When his mother saw him holding the shell, she told him to take it quickly outside and put it carefully on the ground. As he turned to leave, the shell exploded, killing him and his mother, leaving Grant wounded and alone."

Grant's story may help you understand the tragic events that take place every day in the parts of the world ministered to by Samaritan's Purse. In Christ's name this organization considers it a privilege "to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives" (Isaiah 61:1b).

Samaritan's Purse provides food, clothing, water, shelter, medical care and other critically needed assistance, all in Christ's name, to troubled areas of the world. Doing so earns a hearing for the Gospel's message of hope to all who believe

In the United States, Operation Christmas Child distributes gifts to thousands of poverty stricken children and their families. In underprivileged areas, Bibles, Christian literature, and school supplies are given to needy children.

During the past year Samaritan's Purse responded to needs in such places as Russia, Rwanda, Angola, Kenya, Bosnia, Sudan and Indonesia.
