Hines Hospital Summer Service
For several years we have served our veterans at Hines Hospital by creating an outdoor environment that is inviting and fun. The grounds around the residential facility have been transformed from patches of weeds and overgrown bushes to places that are colorful, well kept, and good for the soul. The men greatly enjoy the flowers and perennial plants as well as the vegetables and fruit that we plant for their use. Most of all, we try to show the love of Jesus to these veterans as we work in what for many will be their final home. We’ll begin with a work day on May 15 when we will weed, plant, mulch, trim, and possibly transplant. We need prayer, money, workers, and some perennial flower donations. We also would appreciate help as we follow up each week to maintain what we have done. If planting is not for you, perhaps you would join us in conversation with the veterans to whom we owe so much.
