What Is Stewardship?

Life is a gift entrusted to us by a loving God. His desire is that we manage or “steward” this gift faithfully, wisely, and in accordance with eternal principles and purposes. This is the essence of stewardship.

Everything we have and everything we are is on loan from God. In his kindness, God has given us the privilege of being the temporary trustees of his wealth – a magnificent creation, financial resources, and abilities and relationships of many kinds.

Out of gratitude for God’s grace, we voluntarily invest our lives, time, talents and treasures as we believe God would were he living in our bodies. By the Holy Spirit, he is! We contribute our best in order to build up the ministry of the Church Christ loves and to extend his life-giving mission to people around the world.

Stewardship is a systematic, intentional lifestyle that includes generosity, mercy, and service. We seek to live in a way that demonstrates to God and a watching world that we know that our life and other resources are not our own, but simply a divine trust.
