TOP 10 THINGS ALL PARENTS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT COW!
10. Go Green! We rarely mail anything home to parents. Please subscribe to the middle school ministry’s weekly e-mail newsletter. We also have a great website for up-to-date information, please visit my.cc-ob.org/middleschool.
9. Andy Enjoys a Hot Meal. I would love to connect with you and hear any input you have for the middle school ministry. I enjoy hearing family success stories and discussing how the ministry can better partner with you to minister to your child.
8. Bibles are Cool! Regardless what your child says, they need their Bible at our weekly programs. If your child feels they have “outgrown” their children’s bible, we recommend the NIV Teen Devotional Bible or NIV Teen Study Bible.
7. Protection Policy. We recognize that we are a reflection of God's love to those in our care, so we take seriously our responsibility to them. Everyone who cares for youth under the sponsorship of Christ Church of Oak Brook must understand and follow these policies and procedures. The guidelines are available at my.cc-ob.org/protection_policy.
6. We’re Big Fans! Please send us a copy of your child’s schedules: recitals, plays, tournaments, art shows, science fairs, county fairs, graduations...we want to be there!
5. Meet the Staff! The volunteers who are working in our ministry have two things in common: (1) They love God. (2) They love students. Our leaders really like being around students and have a passion to see them grow in their relationship with Christ. Please introduce yourself to the team and find ways to occasionally encourage them.
4. Retreat! Our camps and retreats are the best way to introduce your child to the middle school ministry. One weekend away equals a year’s worth of Sunday Schools.
3. Open Doors. You are invited to join us at any of our weekly programs. We also open our doors to our curriculum by providing you with outlines and discussion guides for your use at home. Our curriculum can be found on the middle school website.
2. We Value Parents! Many of our leaders are parents and understand the incredible responsibility you face every day as a parent. We want to come along side you and help wherever we can. Don’t hesitate to call us if you need something.
1. Herds! We are not a ministry with small groups…we are a ministry of small groups. We’ll do whatever we can to plug your child into our middle school community.
PARENT PARTNERSHIP
The success of the Middle School Ministry depends on you! That’s a lot of pressure! We depend on you to allow us into your family’s life and partner with you in the spiritual growth of your child. We consider this an awesome privilege and appreciate the trust you place in us each week when you drop off your child. We also depend on you to breathe new life into the ministry. Not everyone feels called to work hands-on with middle schoolers, but many are willing to serve behind the scenes to support the ministry. We invite you to serve behind the scenes with us as the Hands, Head and Heart of COW.
The Hands: We need parents who are willing to lend a hand when needed. We need parents who are willing to build stuff, cook stuff, donate stuff, and even clean stuff up.
The Head: You think about your kids more than we ever could - you love them and live with them everyday. We need this kind of perspective as we seek to serve them.
The Heart: We value prayer more than anything else in our ministry! Our staff and students need your encouragement and prayers at our weekly programs and events.
